Learn Something New

Videos are one of those sometime things I've been putting off for some time. I've been wanting to do some tutorials for you all for a while now, just because I think it's easier to learn by seeing sometimes then it is by reading a step by step. But every time I attempt to shoot one something goes wrong and I just don't know enough to know how to fix it. So the promise went "when I get that new ipad THEN I'll figure out imovie and THEN I'll start doing videos for the blog." Yeah. So that just kept on not happening. First, it was harder to get my hands on an ipad 2 then I thought. Then, shooting the video seemed to take two people and making time for it in both my husband and my schedules seemed impossible. I tried to get my 6 year old to be the cameraman once but that REALLY didn't work. Although I have to admit the end result was pretty hilarious. THEN, i couldn't figure out the video software. Sigh.

None of this would matter, but I'd already promised the video to someone. Yup, I was THAT dumb. So today I decided was going to be the day and this morning I rubber banded my iphone to the end of my paper towel holder which I put into a bowl that was atop of a little plant stand on my table- to create a make shift tripod. Then did about 10 takes trying to get it all right in just one take. Some were ok but too long. Some were ok but I'd stumble over my words too much. Or I'd drop something, or else lose my train of thought and repeat myself. Yikes! BUT I'm happy to say that after all those tries, I think I've finally got it right. It's only a little over 5 min. long, and there aren't any "umm's" so I'm calling it a winner. I'll keep working at this video thing though and hope to get you some snazzy looking one's soon. In the meantime... Here it is- My Youtube debut. ENJOY!

  2. Jen, this video is so great and you're so quick when you bend that wire. I'm impressed, and inspired once again! Great first video even though it took some practice to get everything just right! ;-) Personally I think you're a bit too hard on yourself... I would love to see a edited version of some of the "bloopers", that would be hilarious for your viewers! :-) Now, add tripod to your wish list!
