A New Year's Resolution Confession

So my New Year's Resolution list comes with a confession. I've forgotten how to dream big. Well, maybe not forgotten but to be honest I've been so goal centered (the book) the last couple of years that I've haven't made the time to really sit down and devote some time to dreaming. Do you do this? Get so wrapped up in the next thing on your to do list that you get to the bottom of the list without realizing it?

Here's what I've concluded:

I need a new list.

(I love lists.)

In the past, when I've felt direction-less I'll think of the new things I want to learn, or the people I want to spend time with, or the yummy art materials I'd like to play with, or the places I'd like to go. But I feel like I need something more. I don't have a ton of time so do I concentrate my creative energies on publishing? on producing/selling? on promoting? Really right now I just want to give myself some time to play, and explore.

I've felt so tapped the last couple of week. It might be the strep infection I found out  I have, or it might be more. I'm not sure yet. But I'll tell you what my plan is- I'm going to pray about it, then I'm going to make some lists, I'm going to do some journaling, and I'm going to give myself some free time. Then, I'm going to come here and share it with you.

What do you dream about and how do you identify those dreams? How do you distinguish between wishes and dreams? I've got a post about what I think the difference is here. Do you make a grand plan for the year each January? I'd love to know so please leave a comment!!!

HI Jen:
sounds like you are in need of some very serious and deserving dreaming and play time for yourself. It will be very good for your soul, your health and just your well being.
I'll say a prayer for you to help you get it on your list

It does sound like you need to just play. We can become so focused on growing our blogs, selling our work, getting published that it takes all the fun and creativity out of life.

I do make a plan for the new year. Gets me soooo excited and ready to tackle my goals!! I love a fresh, new start!

I just posted my big list of dreams, wishes, hopes and goals yesterday. It's all mixed in together. Every December I start to reflect on the year just passed and start to open my heart to what I want for the next year. I think about it lots, but at the same time I try not to overthink it, if that makes sense. Then I just pour it all out on paper over and over until it forms itself into a great big list. Well that's how I do it for now. Look forward to reading your list, and I like your process too.
